Uziza seed in Nigerian Recipes

Uziza seed is one the common spices used for different types of Peppersoup. Also called Nkpsip Etinkeni . These  little black seeds have a characteristic aroma that is suitable for making goat meat, fish or chicken Peppersoup. Uziza is in the black pepper family. It is also known as Penja black pepper.
To use these seeds , it is ground into a smooth powder and added to the soup. Uziza seed has a slight bitter taste so it is important to use a little at a time.
To store Uziza seeds it is advisable to keep in an air tight container in the freezer as it easily gets moldy. When left in the kitchen particular in the more humid parts of the country
The leaf of this crawlling plant is also used as herb or vegetable in dishes especially okro soups like Uziza Okro soup and even Egusi  .
Uziza palnt can be grown easily even in flower beds
